I’m here, sitting down and taking everything in regards to what is happening in the world. I look at the financial markets and it looks to be a classic case of panic running through the various markets thorughout the world.
There will be blood on Wall Street and the way things are shaping up, Main Street is going to feel the pain. Are we heading to a major recession? Well the indicators are pointing to a recession. You look at the fact that the credit markets are seizing up and people are flocking to treasuries that are yielding piss poor results. Also people are flying to gold and hoping that will shelter them from the coming storm.
The following sites are definitely recommended reading in regards to what is happening.
The interesting thing is that there are many people who have been studying this situation and are very pessimistic in regards to where we are heading.God only knows that we are definitely are going to further spiral downward.
Wanted to pass along some photos from the past weekend in which we went into the city on Sunday and checked out the ‘Playing the Building’ by David Byrne from Talking Heads fame. We also checked out the nyc waterfalls along the East River and also hung out in Battery Park for a bit to soak in the sun.
Had a nice 3 day weekend with the wife in Cape Cod this past weekend. Of course with anything in regards to vacation it ended sooner than we would have liked. Head on over to the flickr site to check out the photos…
Hung out with pops in the city yesterday. We meet up at New York Penn Station and made our way down to Battery Park to look at the Statue of Liberty from afar. We walked our way up to Wall St and then cut over to the South Street Seaport. We made our way to the end of the pier adjacent to Pier 19 and hung out a bit before it started to downpour. We scurried over to the Heartland Brewery and hung out at the bar and had some burgers and brews. Once done we walked over to the Brooklyn Bridge and took some pictures from there and then made our way up to 42nd St and took the 7 train over to Shea for Mets vs Dodgers. The Dodgers started off to a 2-0 start before Beltran tied the game up with a 2-run homerun and Tatis brought in Evans from 2nd for the lead. Once Wagner closed them down in the 9th we headed over to the LIRR and took the train back to New York Penn. After hanging out for a bit we headed our separate ways, my dad upstate on amtrak and myself over to NJ on the NJTransit.
Watched the clock strike midnight on Davidson earlier. Stephan Curry is a hell of a player and will make a good off guard in the NBA in a couple of years. Also finished up on some reading in regards to business theory and entrepreneurship. Big day tomorrow and hope to add more details if everything goes well.
Kicking the tires of FriendFeed and StumbleUpon. Also looking at other various Web 2.0 technologies and also reading up on the latest financial news(blues). Really enjoying StumbleUpon on which I can get an idea as to what other sites I might have missed in my travels… Looking forward to the trip to Boston this weekend to catch up with old friends.
Just saw an amazing film made by Stefan Nadelman. Here is an excerpt of from his website.
Food Fight is an abridged history of American-centric war, from World War II to present day, told through the foods of the countries in conflict. Watch as traditional comestibles slug it out for world domination in this chronologically re-enacted smorgasbord of aggression.
Picture that was taken the other day of the flatiron building.
In other news the following article by Bill Simmons of Page 2 has a great article about the travesty in Seattle in which the owner Clay Bennett is in the process of getting the Sonics packed for OKC.
Enjoyed the nice warm day in the city on Monday and made stops around the city. Mostly taking my sweet time and picking up books at Strand along the way. Started at Penn Station and made my way down Broadway and then headed over to Washington Park. After then stopped for lunch at Tomoe Sushi and then putzed around Soho for the rest of the afternoon before making my way up to midtown.
I can finally say that Mey-Ling and I have some very exciting news in the fact that we are expecting our first child in September. Of course we will make it a point of trying to update this website as often as possible.
Of course with a soon to be growing family we’ll need to get into a bigger place. Of course with certain places dropping prices we might be able to snag a perfect starter home for us after all!
Thank god that it is almost Monday and my oncall is wrapping up until next months oncall week.
Using the following webclog client, ecto ,that seems to interface very well with my website that is using a wordpress implementation.
Interesting take from Kate Zernike of the nytimes.com on candidates over the years and Barack Obama especially that seems to have the populace gravitate to them by their charisma. Of course charisma alone won’t solve the issues that are present in this date and age.
Watched a great program this morning on PBS this morning in which Henry Louis Gates Jr. hosts African American Lives 2, a follow up to African American Lives from last season.
Finished the 5 books I picked up at Strand Bookstore a couple of months ago and will be heading into the city tomorrow to pick up another five. Love the fact that you can find pretty much any book that was ever published in that store. Of course I love the fact that the prices on the majority the books are very reasonable.
